New year, new me...

New year, new me...

It’s almost 2019, so it’s time to look back at 2018. What did we achieve?

2018 was intense for me, I got promoted at work, had some unexpected events in the stock market, better to forget those, I’m glad that I realised in time that I can do better for the environment and that every little step counts.

I’m happy that I came across minimalism, especially that I overcame in the past weeks my depression and anxiety via decluttering my living space. As I live in a tiny studio flat it was extremely important to make it even more clutter free so I won’t feel so overwhelmed at “home”. In a more organized home I feel better and feel more productive and my lifestyle instantly became more active.

In this time of the year we are coming up with the new year’s resolutions and making up the newest mental gymnastics to prove ourself why we are going to act differently in the upcoming year, why we are going to be a better self, why we are going to achieve all those things we couldn’t manage in the past year, why are we going to be more disciplined than ever before.

Well, I got a bad news; it simply doesn’t work this way.

If we want to achieve something different, then we have to do something different, just because it’s turning into 1st January 2019 soon it doesn’t mean our wishes are going to come true without acting.

Don’t misunderstand me, it’s important to set our goals, but it’s not everything.

If you want somehting you never had, you have to do something you’ve never done.

My goals for the upcoming year are pretty simple, due to the Brexit misery just want to make sure I sort out myself for the foreseeable future, so I’ll make sure that I manage a British passport for myself, just in case. Also want to keep on managing to save a decent chunk of my salary, the goal is monthly £700.00 so in a year basis £8,400.00 which is going to be invested in the stock market as I usually do with my savings. I’m planning to visit as many places as possible and which is the most important goal of the year is to spend even more time with my loved ones.

I am going to read even more than ever before, I’m planning to finish at least 24 books during the year, so far I’m done with 1 already and not even january (I just read one in 2 days), to be honest I always liked to read and will continue with this hobby of mine, let’s see how it goes, the book titles will be shared in another post later on.

Career vise, I’d like to get into a finance role which seem so difficult at the moment (I guess my CV is not impressive enough, even tough I have all the qualifications to catch a job, but the life gives me lemons, don’t care, gonna turn those lemons into lemonades at some point).

In the upcoming year I will keep on going with my gym routine (4 times a week) and will definitely reduce the alcohol consumption as much as possible.

I am also going to continue my culinary journey, learning to cook even more different and more difficult dishes as I really do like cooking. The healthy diet will continue in the future also, I already eat quiet healthy and I’m sure it’s just going to get better and better.

As I promised I’m going to continue my journey towards a more minimal lifestyle, I’m already more conscious about the environment than 3 months ago and this journey is going to continue, there’s always space to improve. I’m going to be more conscious in the coming year also about my purchases, will limit my impulsive shopping, will eliminate more plastic from my lifestyle than ever before. I hope even more of you going to say no for consumerism and hope more of you going to realize that the less is more.

I wish all of us to realize how lucky we are that we are healthy, have food and shelter, living in a safe environment, there's lot’s of people out there who can’t share these basics with us.

Instead of wishing something fancy, I just wish all you to act and not react, do instead of expecting, be active and proactive, be kind without a reason and don’t let no one to turn you down.

I wish to all of us power to face our problems, but not in the new year instead right now, I wish for everyone to live for the moment, to be conscious and aware, to be open, open for new ideas, open to new friendships, open to new discussions, open for new opportunities.

I wish all of us happiness, courage to make those first steps into a new direction, last but not least good health.

Happy new year!

PS; the blog will run in the next year too, so stay tuned.

Your sincerely
