One thing at a time
Have you heard the advice before; Focus on one thing at a time.
That’s such an important but in the very same time underestimated advice you can get. One of those meaningful advices that if you think of and then implement it can help your jorney in minimalism and in your overall well being. Focus on one thing at a time, don’t get distracted.
Prioratize, focus and execute, right in this order.
I started to feel in the recent days that discarding items in this Christmas period it doesn’t go as well as I planned before. In the beginning of my journey, decluttering and discarding items went quick and easy but afterwards item by item it became a hard process.
I was reading the book called Goodbye things, on minimalist living by Fumio Sasaki and I figured it out it’s happened to me because my mind was everywhere but not on the right place in the right time. Even tough I felt like bad that my minimalism journey is not on that stage where I can fit all my belongings into a small luggage but I’m working towards it and there’s really no exact definition about minimalism and who can be called minimalist, there’s no rule out there if you got more than 50 items you can’t be a minimalist.
I think if you are striving to keep only the bare essentials to your lifestyle then you can call yourself a minimalist. The main thing is to think about those items surrounding you and if those items are really neccessary to be in your life. Could you live without them?
I got distracted all the time, kind of got bored of discarding things, felt overwhelmed and even the weather was really dark and rainy (what a bad excuse right?) so I just went to the bed, went to the gym, was cooking and watching some series or movies till I fell asleep. All of us getting into that stage at some point I’m pretty sure about it.
Since I read the book, what I definitely recommend to everyone who interested in simple living and in minimalism in general, I feel motivated again. Ahh motivation, time to time we all lose it and here is coming into my mind a quote I was reading and it’s an eternal truth;
“People often say motivation doesn't last.
Well, neither does bathing, that's why we recommend it daily.” - Zig Ziglar
Less clutter more freedom, because as I used to say, the less is more. Less stuff is leading to more time, more time to value the people more in your life, less distraction, more focus, less shopping, more money in your pocket so you can travel more, experience more, be a bit more open for everyone and for everything.
The less is more.
Your sincerely
