What's happened?
Well seems like I kind of disappeared from the online sphere which is true, but I have my own reasons, to put it simply I’m enjoying life having a busy lifestyle workwise but other than that I guess the more content I am with the things going the more likely I forgot about the blog, social media, posting, sharing moments and just going on with my way of living.
Last time I posted was in January 2024, well almost half a year has passed, the shopping spree for the year is pretty much done, but to balance the things out, happy to report that the decluttering and the one in one out rule is not forgotten, today was the day I’ve got rid of 4 shoes, got rid of might not be the most appropriate wording, I’ve donated them to the local charity shop, big shout out to the Berner Brocki they also gave as a nice gesture a voucher for a free drink in their cafè shop, so thank you for it.
The more I am in this minimalist lifestyle the more I feel that it is a never ending journey, I catch myself on counting items, trying to get rid of things subconsciously, just walking around the flat and thinking about things, like, do I really need this?
One thing that really annoys me actually is packaging, cause most of the times, be it grocery, household items, clothes or furniture, the stuff is always wrapped/packed in so much packaging material that I always feel the need to get rid of this stuff, subconsciously we also store lot’s of this stuff at home, from shoe boxes to packaging of airpods or phones or laptops or bags or packaging of expensive clothes/shoes, cause it will be better when we try to sell it, right? Well, wrong, most of the times we won’t ever sell it or attempt to sell it cause the hassle that it involves, instead we will donate or bin it when its time has come. So yeah, won’t be afraid to dump it, you won’t regret it, it won’t reduce the resale value or any of this nonsense, have zero remorse, I know it’s easier said than done, but that’s the case. I’m also kind of obsessed in a weird way to cutting off from my clothes the labels inside, you know the little labels with washing instructions and so on, just hate that stuff, not sure if anyone else does this, but yeah, it’s like a thing that I do.
Today, after I’ve donated my shoes, I felt such a huge liberation, that feeling when you got rid of a burden, stones off my shoulders, the feeling of I’ve done something good for others, might they will have good new owners, whom will enjoy those shoes as much as I did, or someone in need of those and also done something good for myself, decluttered something I’ve no longer used or needed, that’s what I call a win-win. As the saying goes, the things you own will end up owning you. I still have more clothes than I should have, but it’s a work in progress, I like to dress well and clothes happened to be my weak spot in terms of decluttering, slowly but surely getting rid of things in that front too.
The past month my beloved laptop’s battery has been replaced, which also means that the articles might will arrive more frequently given that I won’t have to sit in front of my computer by my desk and can just chill on sofa, writing my thoughts instead of being forced to sit by my desk after a long day of working from home, that’s actually might be the answer for the seldom blog posts, let’s see but can’t promise anything. Ohh yeah, my laptop is with me since 2015 and had issues for the past 2 years or so with the battery, basically wasn’t working without being plugged in, meant eventually that in a practical sense I barely (understand might be once a year) used it. Glad this issue is sorted and expecting to get an extra two years at least out of it, will report back about it.
Now that I’m thinking about it, this is what this lifestyle is really all about, reduce, reuse, recycle, this is a great example that with a new battery this little thing is working as in its heyday. Use the things available for as long as possible, overconsumption is a huge western disease but there’s a cure, called conscious consumption, let’s change the world together, step by step.
Going forward I can’t promise I’ll post more but to put it out loud, minimalism is not about being fancy, it’s a lifestyle.
Yours sincerely
