The art of giving

The art of giving

Alright, this article is somewhat special to me. Let me explain to you why, I was raised up as kid hearing all the time its better to give than to receive and thought like, gosh, what you’re talking about, I love to get presents, who’s on earth not? Everyone loves gifts, but never thought giving could be somewhat special.

Later on in life I received tons of help from people among me in multiple forms, not just materialistic ways, instead in terms of free English classes, help by moving flats, even getting jobs from somewhat random people and I was always trying to give something back.

Couple of years ago I decided that I’m gonna take the lead and be proactive in giving to others as I feel like I am in a position where I can donate money, what I regularly do to charities, nothing major but any penny can make a difference, to be fair, never thought the right way to help is with money, mainly because I know most charities use our funds for the running costs and most of the times unfairly high amount of our donations in % goes for running costs, therefore I started to look after alternative ways of help such as regular blood donations, I’m also donating clothes, unused things too which is quiet handy as I feel like its such a waste to throw away perfectly usable things, gadgets, clothes instead I donate them.

Another big bunch of clothes that I’m not using anymore or in worst case scenario, never ever used before.

It’s extremely useful in decluttering too as you can make a difference with minimalism in your life and what else is better than making a difference in someone else’s life with your donations. Especially if you can make a difference in someone’s life who doesn’t have much left.

Here’s coming into picture St Luke’s Hospice I’m regularly donating too.

Here's a brief description about what they do;

St Luke’s is the local hospice for Harrow and Brent. We care for people whose illnesses are no longer curable, enabling them to achieve the best possible quality of life.

Our vision is a world where everyone with an incurable illness can access the care they need to live well, to know that their family and carers are supported, and to die with dignity in the place of their choice.

To me is an important cause as unfortunately I lost beloved family members like everyone else and I know what it means when someone doesn’t have much left and I know that this charity is using responsibly the income they generate via the resell of these clothes to help and comfort those in need.

This article is not about promoting this particular charity, it’s not about convincing you to donate, its about bringing into your attention that you can help in multiple ways and to explain to you that it is never too late to start and help others with kind words, in the way you can and want.

Maybe these actions are not much to you but to others could mean a better quality of life, might means a smile, might you make others day or help them when they are in need.

Only by giving you are able to receive more than what you already have.

As the CEO and President of United Nations, Kathy Calvin said;

Giving is not just about making a donation.

It is about making a difference.

I gurantee you all, you’ll feel amazing by knowing you made this planet a better place.

It’s time to step up.

Your sincerely
