Clutter free living

Clutter free living

Apparently living within your means and enjoying a clutter free home is not everyone’s cup of tea and the interesting thing is that I received comments like I have OCD - Obsessive Compulsive Disorder - a diagnosis that refers to obsessive repeated routines such as compulsive cleaning aka the inner urge to keep on cleaning, checking multiple times whether we closed the door, purchasing in multiples, tapping on walls to alleviate your stress and even hoarding is considered as OCD behaviour.

I received such comments from friends, colleagues too regarding my organized home, but I wouldn’t consider living in a relatively clutter free environment and keeping my belongings in order with someone who has OCD, especially given that I am very far off from having a capsule wardrobe or practicing furniture free living or any other form of extremes.

It became normal to live in packed until the ceiling flats and indulge in the altar of consumption. Another part of my argument regarding these false accusations is that most people are not aware of the meaning of words they are throwing around in discussions, you must be precise and know what you are talking about especially when you are playing the “doctor”.

Minding your own business and not getting involved in someone else’s business can be challenging for the vast majority of the society but they could and should try their best and I can guarantee it would spare them the unnecessary stress and frustration of dealing with that burden. Taking the minimalist approach in our daily interactions are also vital in sparing our nerves. Minimalism and minimalist approaches are basically the concepts of ‘live and let live’ regardless we are talking about architecture, design, environmental activism or just living on this planet.

Living a clutter free life spiritually or living in a clutter free home and minding your own business does not mean you are weird or a freak or you have any type of OCD or illnesses. The world has gone mad and if you don’t follow the trend, you don’t stand in the line you can seem like an outlier.

Keep up your minimalist approach and don’t let people put you down about it, you live your life for yourself and there’s no need for explanation. I rather go home after work to clean and tidy and organized place I can call home than feeling depressed under the weight of things around me. Minding your own business and learning how to do not get involved in things makes wonders. Exhibitionism is a real disease of the 21st century where everyone share their opinion even if no one asked for it, don’t worry about it, just get on with your life.

Your sincerely
