October - NOctober
Say no, that was my slogan for October. October or NOctober as I said during the month. Whenever I am out and about, having this temptation to buy something, usually my temptations are manifasting in some sort of clothes that I feel the urgent need to fill the void with.
Not this month, this month I managed to do not purchase any unnecessary item, such as clothes in my case, I said unnecessary item, because I’ve got to be honest and I purchased a fancy rather expensive, small (2kg so definitely small compared to traditional hoovers) and compact Dyson hoover. Funny thing is that a hoover is not really a thing that usually make people happy, but guess what, I love a neat, clean and tidy environment, I guess it comes with minimalism hand in hand.
To be honest, I always liked rather clean and organized places growing up, way before I knew anything about minimalism. It stemms from my childhood as our homes were always cluttered, packed with items that we barely used if ever, boxes, clutter everywhere and I felt super anxious about it.
Even as a kid, you could find me, cleaning tables, trying to organize things at home, cleaning my room, the living room or my parents room, it just felt natural to me and always dreamt about having a neat place to go home to.
So, to get back to the story, this hoover is really a thing I had to get, I bet it is my way to justify the ridiculous price I paid for something and to justify the purchase itself, meanwhile up until now I was just getting by fine without my own.
How expensive is an item is also a very subjective matter, it all comes down to how much use you get out of it, how much time you spend using it, whether you enjoy using it, whether it adds to your happiness. Well, I can confirm, it definitely adds to my quality of life, so I deem it as good purchase.
Apart of that “necessary” item, I managed to do not purchase any other item in the entire month and keep on sticking on the clothes front to my own rule, one item in than one item must go.
I still got to do something about the copious amount of coffee I consume, cause according to my own calculations it is reaching the ridiculous height of roughly £350.00 year which is definitely way too excessive given that I have my own coffee machine, moka maker, Iwaki, pour over set, despite that I manage to spend a massive amount on coffee. This is the next aspect of my life that I definitely must work on.
I hope ya’ll had an easy month and managed to get some routine in your lives. Maybe you should all join to me in NOvember.
Yours sincerely
