Survivor - Fight against the heat

Survivor - Fight against the heat

Over the last month Europe was hit by two very strong heatwaves and not gonna lie, it hit me as well as millions in Europe. According to Copernicus Europe the second heatwave in the end of July broke records in many Western European countries including Germany, France, Belgium, Luxembourg, Netherlands and of course for me most interestingly in United Kingdom.

The global warming went way too much out of hand and it seems like its getting the norms now, which is really unfortunate that people are debeating wether its happening or not still today.

According to the statistics in July alone the tempreture went 20C grade above the 10 years average in that month. Officially July 2019 became the hottest month recorded in history.

That got me thinking like each year we do hear these records getting broken and really people thinking of the validity of global warming? Is it only me who finds it really silly? Why people don’t debate instead about how to stop it, how to fight against pollution, garbage, plastic waste, E-waste etc…

Where are the much needed recycling programs? Where are the corporate social responsibility programs from the big corporations flooding the earth with their waste? It should be as much their responsibility to recycle their products as much they force it on people. In the very first hand they should make recyclable products and after they should have a definite plan to collect those items after they were being used, recycle them and redistribute them, instead they just flood the markets with their crap, don’t have a plan to collect them, don’t use recyclable materials for those products, so the system is flawed.

Yes, I do think the heatwave is tightly correlated with the waste culture we are living in and yes, the corporations are responsible for that in big part.

Getting back to the main topic, wanted to share how I managed to survive this weather, first time in my life I felt so miserable that went to a store to by a fancy super expensice fan, yes a Dyson one, will get back to it later on. I was on drinks all the time, not just alcoholic ones gladly (mainly non alcoholic ones, before you guys picture me as a young alcoholic), but had to grab a pint now and then. I made everything with ice, smoothies from iced fruits, iced teas, iced coffees and a complete dietary change was well needed too. I gave up on my carvior diet for 3 weeks almost, that how hot it felt. I ate super cold watermelon and tons of fruits and veggies, cause I didn’t have appetite for nothing else. Had showers literally 4 times a day, yes, I do feel bad for people in need of water but I felt I must do it, cause it was just that hot, I barely slept for 4-5 hours a day and constantly dreamt of the beach, but living in London didn’t help it much, cause this concrete jungle just reflects more the sunlight and makes the entire city into a frying pan pretty much.

Best way in this heat is to set up the Iwaki in the evening cause it takes around 5 hours to get one big cup of coffee and pour it over some ice and it gets your day started.

So I was eating almost all day easily digestable food, lots of fruits, drinks, cold soups and more veggies than ever. I don’t know about ya’ll, but in this temperature I did not fancy meat based diet as it just felt so hard to digest. Instead, started my day with a smoothie made of oats, 1 banana, frozen berries and some coconut milk. Then moved on to some light eggs based meal later on, fruits all day inbetween with lots of watermelon, some tuna cans with rice cakes for dinner and generally lots of fish with veggies, cause I felt these meals are easier digestable for me in these circumstances. This weather definitely helps everyone to get in better shape, cause for sure you can lose some kilos, depending on the beer intake I reckon.

Who can name any better breakfast than a super cold breakfast smoothie, recipe shared above. Just as delicious as it looks.

You guys, did you change your diet solely based on weather? Do you have any tricks apart of cold showers and tons of ice in drinks to make these conditions bearable?

The infamous Dyson, costs a fortune, but unfortunately its not powerful enough to cool down my place, so had to return it, the customer service was nice and helpful though.

Alright from Monday on, I’m off to Barcelona, might post from there or later on write about it, I need the sea, a decent tan, even though I highly doubt about it, yes I usually turn into a living walking lobster, but will try my best.

For you guys, I wish good luck with the weather, enjoy till it last, cause usually it doesn’t last long in the UK. Keep it in mind, the less is more, including food also sometimes. One more thing, don’t buy crap on your holiday destination, trust me you don’t need the fridge magnet, the posters, the little shot glasses or the fancy hats, you go on holiday to be with your loved ones and enjoy the destination, the weather, the sightseeing and you’re definitely not going for shopping.

Keep it simple and keep it classy. Stay lowkey, stay minimal.

Your Sincerely

To/Minimal
