Decluttering the never ending art of having less

It was a quite long time ago since my last update about my progress. As everything, minimalism starts with a thought, a thought of having less to create more, a way of experiencing to be more in the way of giving up on certain things; “things” that don’t bring “joy” anymore, I couldn’t miss this one in the world of Marie Kondo.

I mean those “things” at some point definitely brought joy and a smile on my face, but they don’t serve me anymore. So to start off this topic I got rid of kitchen utensils, plastic containers, I donated them partly, the worn out ones I had to trash. The journey continued with clothes decluttering, that’s my biggest weakness I have to admit. Living in London is throwing unmissable opportunities at your feet wherever you’re walking in the city. It could be just a short walk in Oxford Circus in search for a decent coffee, a quiet place where the next article can be written or where I can focus on investments and boom those deals finding you, tapping you on the shoulder and you just give in the tamptation.

The goal here is not to never buy anything, because let me tell you something, time to time the little devil wishpering to you on top of your shoulder will overcome on your willpower. The measure here is the consciousness, how conscious and mindful can you be in the daily life. Same apply for most things in life, the problem is not that we give in for the temptation of eating some junk food, I have to admit, I’m being beaten by Five guys big burgers, big fries and milkshakes all the time, hard thing to admit, but nothing to be ashamed of right? Instead the problem is the lack of focus during all the week, all the month, occasionally we can have that burger, buy that clothes or electronics, but don’t go over board with that. Justify that decision all the time, work harder on the weak aspects, if you like junk food incorporate it into your diet, but don’t go over board with it, make sure you move those extra calories off, if you like clothes like me, make sure when you buy one you get rid off one. Make a plan, plan your week, don’t walk around the shopping mall if you don’t want to buy something. Mitigate the situations where you can fall in a trap of consumerism.

Other 2 bags of clothes, feel a bit contraversial about it, hard to part of things you paid a lot for, but in the other hand might someone gonna have a better use of them. One more reason to be more conscious about shopping next time.

All my clothes, still a long way to go, cause can’t say I’m having all these items a good use, but slowly slowly getting better and better. Tough to think about it, but I already donated 6 bags of clothes and also trashed few well worn pieces and still have a lot. Working on it…

It is hard but with dedication it can work, just wanted to include a picture of the bags I donated once again to charity, show my cupboard how many clothes I still do have meanwhile there are pieces I barely wear, I’m sure everyone got those clothes and want to continue decluttering my living space, including clothes, kitchen utensils and miscellaneous I do have. Not to mention the old Uni papers that I found difficult to get rid off, but slowly slowly they will disappear.

Whenever I look at videos or reading books/blogs about other minimalists that they are way ahead of me, some of them with capsule wardrobes I feel a bit contraversial about my current situation, but meantime I’m feel proud as well, cause I came a long way up to this point and it’s not the end yet, the journey continues.

Stay tuned, join the minimalist movement and share your experiences. The less is more.

Your sincerely
