The sales season started

The sales season started

For most of us the holiday season is over, school, university, nursery started and the pitch is filled with sales traps topped with the Christmas/Winter/BlackFriday advertisements already. It’s not for coincidence, instead clever marketing games/campaignes by brands. We are in that time of the year when we start to bulk buy the stuff/clothes/gadgets to prepare for Christmas and in general for the winter season.

We are facing increased marketing materials/advertisements in every segment of our lives, on the internet, on the social networks and on the streets, probably on the TV as well (I don’t have one) but can’t comment on this segment.

So theses marketing geniuses got a plan for us, they already have a plan how they gonna take our hard earned £ out of our pockets. One question remained; what is your plan? Do you have a plan?

Most probably the answer is no, so guess what? Start to plan your moves, think of your gifts (if any) think of the stuff you really value enough and you want to be part of your life and don’t buy nothing without you were thinking deeply about that.

I am already thinking of what I am going to purchase to my loved ones. Not saying it’s all gonna be non material, instead I am focusing on the value of those items and if they really can better my loved ones life, are they gonna be useful for them? I started the guess work already but it’s a long process, it is about listening, I was listening to these people throughout the year and when the moment comes, might they won’t even remember that they told me what they wanted and can make them smile and happy.

One more thing to add, hope you know more or less the price of the item, because most of the times, we get crazy when we see written the sales sign, but many times unfortunately these sales are misleading, either because that item was never that much or always cost exactly the same or simply you can find the item cheaper somewhere else.

As an example, I love parfumes and when I´m about to ran out of them, I strategically plan the next purchase, my usual bet is the duty free shop in the airports, as a frequent traveller, I am always on the move so I can plan the purchase of the next one, in these duty free shops I usually manage to get a good deal on the planned parfume. This is what I meant by strategic planning, you know a purchase will come up at some point in the future, so I make my next moves and plan for the most economical way to get what I need. You have to do the same, be strategic.

Technology can be our saviour in these cases many times too, not sure if you use price comparision sites, but in this winter madness they can help us to make articulate well thought decisions. Never rush a purchase, especially an expensive one, classic sales pitch is the buy right now, this deal is only for today etc… That’s crap, they know it’s not true and you should know it as well.

Always watch out, otherwise they will rip you off. These would be my tips, don´t get fooled, look out, search and do not impulse buy.

Your sincerely
