How long can you declutter? - The items are sneaking back their way into my flat.

So I kind of disappeared from the blogging world of mine, not for a reason, it’s just happened. I caught myself on the more items I declutter aka getting rid of them, the more they try to find their way back to me and unfortunately they are quiet successful in that, sort to say.

In the past month I purchased a TV and a coffee machine, brought couple of books in house too and swapped part of my wardrobe. They don’t sound too bad and I insist they are not too bad, but when you sit down and start to think about how hard it was to reach a reasonably clutter free space just to find yourself bringing stuff back into your life, it definitely makes you feel a bit of discomfort.

Obviously, like every average Joe, I have my very own reasoning why I did what I did, but I am conscious enough to realize that I fell into the consumerist trap that I constantly fight against in my daily life.

There’s no such thing as optimal number of household items, or items in general you can own to qualify to the absolute ultimate league of minimalists even though the Youtube ceasars definitely gonna tell you frankly how you should live it to make it or at least to dream it, but I tell you that this ficitional optimal number does not exist.

So if this optimal number does not exist than why to bother at all? Because I still have the inner desire to live in a clutter free and peaceful environment where I can focus on the most effective and efficient way. This thought nurtured in my mind always pushing me to try to organize and be glad of the things I own and I have to own the very best and most used items cause one way or another the items that I own will end up owning me. That’s a really powerful statement and makes sense, if we start to think about it a bit deeper.

I still try to figure out how to fight against the “I have to have this item” constant thought brought to me by the TV, social media, street adverts and so on, because that’s bloody difficult and imagine if I find it that difficult than what’s going on with the folks that they never heard of or thought of minimalism or trying to be clutter free, you know the type of people that pay month in and month out for a self storage to store their stuff that they barely can list or to upsize just to fit their gadgets and so on, let’s just call them the average western citizens.

Is there a way out of it? I do not intend to live like a monk but sometimes it seems like a feasible option for escape. My mentality hasn’t changed, the problem is not the rat race instead being a rat, yeah that’s for my final thought about minimalism, thanks for reading my latest rant.

As always, the less is more.

Your sincerely
