The fear of death
The bad thing about death is the certainty surrounding it. It’s better to familiarize ourselves about death, our life is going to finish in one way or another, our resposibility is to make the best out of it. Everyone is going to die at some point, some people earlier than others, some of us peacefully in the bed, others in pain, illness or through violence or accidents.
We can’t escape, but the goal is not to ran against the clock, instead of focusing on important things in life. Focusing on our loved ones, living the moments, creating memories, creating and contributing to something meaningful. To live in peace within, to give to be better, to help others, to preserve the environment for the future generations to come, to add value to our life and to others.
The debate used to be more about the values sourrounding death, people tend to think, why should I save if I can die any minute, why should I spare the pennies, when I might being hit by the bus on the street?
Well, I have a bad news for you all, what if you won’t being hit by the bus, what if you don’t die young, what if I say even worse thing and telling you that might the fancy Gucci slippers won’t add value to your life? What if the fancy holiday to the Maldives won’t add value to your life? What if I say that it’s not the places that make great holidays instead the people you are with? You earn every single penny once, you have to be wise about them, because you exchanged your invaluable asset of time for it and you will never get back that time what you spent to earn it. What if I say, you have to find a purpose in life first?
The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why. - Mark Twain
I have to admit I was belonging for long to the depressed or half empty glass group, which is a shame, but after a while I understood that the beauty around death is the uncertainty, we don’t know how much we have left, might less than we think right now.
One question remained, are you living the life you dreamed of? Are you looking at the person in the mirror you always wanted to be? Well, these are hard questions to be faced, because we all have the courage to dream of better life, better job, better circumstances becasue we have the motivation to make it better, to make the dream life, but most times the priorities are ain’t no right.
Materialism will put us into an endless race, where we never going to appreciate what we have, instead we are going to focus on how to buy a better, a more beautiful object. Same apply to the comparison paradox, what we face on daily basis thanks to Facebook, Instagram, Pinterest and to social media in general. We look at those perfectly timed pictures, wondering about those perfect holidays presented to us, where they try to sell us a dream, it is an endless circle.
The solution is to stop insulting yourself by comparing yourself to others, you are unique, you are one and only.
Look at death us an opportunity to put your priorities in order. You can’t take all those clothes, social media profiles, followers and objects with you, at least as far as we know right now. Strive for financial freedom and give the most expensive gift to those you think deserve it, and ladies and gents, this gift is your time.
We don’t know what tomorrow brings to us and we need to adjust our life and existence to that.
Be fearless because the less is more.
Your sincerely
