Minimalism in healthy eating

Have you ever tought about minimalism in terms of healthy eating? Well, it’s time to start to think about it. The least processed food you’re taking into your body the better it is.

One of the most absurd thing in my London life was to realize how many people actually live on take-aways, on frozen food, on highly processed food, even highly educated people doing this and it just doesn’t make sense to me.

As I mentioned before, I’m from Hungary and most people I know in my hometown, they are all cooking at home since a very young age (14-15) and people rarely going out to restaurants, most probably around 1-2 times per month, however everyone is cooking and organizing dinners at home for family and for friends.

Partly the reason for this is that an average Hungarian family is not so well off money wise and they can’t simply afford that livestyle, meanwhile the higher median income in London let most of us to stretch our budgets way more wide and have those take aways, pizzas, Chinese food at least 4-5 times a week along with the lovely Sunday roasts and the daily coffee shop trips.

Whenever I read about this topic, people tend to monetize this topic by saying you shouldn’t do this cause it costs a fortune, well it does cost a fortune, but let me put this in another perspective.

What the HEALTH goes on? What about your health? Obesity? Diabetes? Cancer?

Stop living the take-away lifestyle instead learn few delicious recipes made with fresh ingredients that can get ready in 25 minutes. Don’t even start to say is too much time, cause no, it isn’t, especially if you count how much time does it take to order your food, pay for it, take it home, or just sit on the sofa, order it and wait for the delivery driver, trust me the unhealthy option takes more time, costs more and most cases not even as fresh as you think.

I’d personally highly recommend meal prepping too, it’s time efficient, cost effective and healthy. If you’re allergic to something, celiac, on diet or suffer from diabetes than it’s a must, to know what you’re eating. It’s the bare minimum, so it should be obvious to plan your meals.

Some healthy and within 25 minutes can be ready meals, creamy pasta with chicken, another pasta meal, salmon with veggies and duck with cheesy potatos.

The meals on the pictures above can be ready within 25 minutes made from fresh ingredients. A pasta meal shouldn’t take longer than 25 minutes, pasta meals are super easy and quick to prepare, you need to cook the pasta in boiling water for 10 minutes, most of us we just purchase the whole wheat pasta in the grocery store but once you’re an improved cook you can prepare it yourself too just to improve the quality and really make everything out of scratch. The other meals below are also super easy to prepare, a salmon meal can be made easily in the oven and the duck is getting ready in the pan real quick too.

What is your excuse apart of being lazy? Come on, start to learn to cook, buy fresh food instead of frozen, meal prep for the next days if you know that you won’t have time to cook. Preparation, preparation and preparation. Organize your life a bit more and enjoy the cooking cause it is joyful, at least it makes me relaxed, put some good music in the background or if you are on an advanced level put some Ted talk or podcast in the background and you’ll see the time will fly and you will get healthier than ever before.

The less is more.

Your sincerely
